EMPOWER is a network of organisations that have joined forces to improve the professionalism and capacity of responses to marine wildlife emergencies. The initiative was started in 2008 by Sea Alarm Foundation, together with a core group of Founding Members.

Since 2000, many organisations in most European coastal countries have started working closely together with Sea Alarm for preparedness and effective response to oiled wildlife response and the response to other marine wildlife emergencies. These organisations share a genuine interest in this working field and in opportunities to develop skills and other means to get better prepared for marine incidents.

EMPOWER aims to formalise this international “Sea Alarm Network” and create opportunities for improving the abilities of its members in a more structural way. Therefore any organisation with an interest in the response to marine wildlife emergencies and with the aim and interest to improve its own skills and that of others can join the network.
